Project Overview
Name: Project Redkite
Location: Slough, United Kingdom
Sector: Mission-Critical Infrastructure – Data Centre
Duration: 5 months
Status: Completed

Project Redkite involved the fast-track delivery of a 30MW hyperscale data centre. The project’s success hinged on precise commissioning, rigorous safety management, and coordination between multiple contractors to meet an aggressive programme and deliver on time to IST.

Our Role
Pentagon Technical Services was entrusted with site management for commissioning, taking responsibility for logistics, health and safety, and day-to-day operational oversight.

In true PTS fashion, our approach went beyond contractual scope – we believe in doing whatever it takes to keep projects moving and clients confident. Cameron Moffett, our Commissioning Manager on site, embodied this ethos. Whether resolving unexpected issues or stepping into a role outside his remit, his focus remained on delivery, safety, and collaboration.
Key Skillsets Delivered:

– Logistics coordination across multi-disciplinary teams

– Time and people management under compressed schedules

– Health and safety leadership ensuring zero delays from incidents

– Rapid issue resolution to keep commissioning on track

Challenges
This was commissioning at scale — 24 chillers, 4 CRACs, 4 CRAHs, and 72 fan walls — in a highly compressed timeline. Delays in heat load testing created a bottleneck, forcing the team to condense multiple critical commissioning activities into a shorter window.

Unexpected technical issues emerged with installed units during commissioning, threatening programme milestones. The challenge was to resolve these quickly, without impacting downstream works, while keeping safety uncompromised.

Solutions
At PTS, we pride ourselves on a “no excuses” approach to delivery. For Project Redkite, this meant:

Extended and out-of-hours commissioning to keep momentum and recover lost time.

“When the programme is that tight, you can’t afford to lose momentum — we just kept going until the job was done,” said Cameron.

Daily senior commissioning meetings to ensure constant alignment between all contractors, engineers, and stakeholders.

Rapid troubleshooting and decision-making, allowing technical issues to be resolved without derailing the commissioning programme.

“When an issue cropped up, there was no time to dwell on it. We acted fast, brought in the right expertise, and made sure commissioning stayed on track,” Cameron added.

Proactive cross-role support — stepping into any task, whether within scope or not, to safeguard the project’s delivery and maintain client satisfaction.

Results
Commissioned & Delivered:

– 24 Chillers
– 4 CRAC Units
– 4 CRAH Units
– 72 Fan Walls

All systems were successfully delivered from yellow tag through to handover at IST without delay. The client benefitted from a fully operational data centre on schedule, enabling critical infrastructure to go live as planned — with zero lost time incidents and minimal disruption during delivery.

Project Redkite stands as proof of PTS’s operational doctrine: Assemble, Adapt, Deliver. Our culture of ownership, adaptability, and collaboration — combined with our deep technical expertise — ensures that even under pressure, system readiness, safety, and schedule integrity are never compromised.

Cameron’s leadership in the field reflected the very heart of our team — the will to execute under pressure, the discipline to hold the line, and the adaptability to do whatever it takes for mission success.
